There is something different about Little Man lately. It's like he's gotten a testosterone surge or something. His voice has gone up several decibels. There is definitely something wrong with his hearing, because the only words he seems to be able to pick up on are words like "Choo Choo", and "popsicle", and "surprise". I haven't tested his entire vocabulary yet, but I do know that "no", "stop that", and "come here" are beyond him at this point.
His diagnosis: He's three. I went on an exhaustive search for a cure for this, and found there is only one - four. I have to wait over eleven months for a cure for his "three-ness".
Of course, then he will be four. *sigh*
Is it just me? Am I being punished for not posting as often as I use to? It seems every time I try to log in to post I am met with difficulties. Anyone else?
We recently took the kids to the circus when it came through a neighboring town, and I just have to post here about how disappointing it was. First of all, we paid $16 per adult (we had coupons to get the kids in free, but at that price they aren't fooling me - we paid for the kids as well.) That's okay - at least they were up front about that. The really dirty part was when we got into the tent, all the seats anywhere near the center ring were blocked off, and you had to pay to "upgrade" your ticket if you wanted to sit there - anywhere from $2-$5 per person. So we sat on the end in the horrible seats. The kids couldn't see anything, so to keep them entertained we bought cotton candy and popcorn and sno cones - at a premium price of course. The tent was terriblely hot, and the seats were dirty. While there were a couple of impressing acts, most of them were sub par. (Come on people - you are putting on a show - smile, or look like you're having fun or something!) Yes, the little girls with the hula hoops were good, but not $16 good.
Ella was so excited about seeing the circus, but afterwards when asked what her favorite part was she said "the cotton candy". If the Carson & Barnes circus comes near you, save yourself a lot of money, and skip it.
I know, I know. But Ella's been out of school, and I haven't been home but just a few days in the last two and a half weeks. I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, and I want to say thank you to all of you who have asked about me. Ella's back in school this week, and hopefully I can get back into my routines.
I'm planning a garage sale for two weeks from now. I just hate doing them, but I've decided to clean out a lot of the baby stuff I have, so I'm hoping to make some good money with that. Ella wants to set up a lemonade stand - she's so excited about that!
My next big project is a treasure hunt that my brother and I are putting together for our big "Pirate Party". I can't talk about it of course - it's all very hush hush, but I can tell you it's going to be fabulous! All of you reading this that will be involved should start getting excited.
I've also been thrown back into my genealogy this last week after my mom was contacted by a distant relative looking for some information on our Oxley line. I really do enjoy doing genealogy. If only I could turn the kids to the "off" position for a few hours a day. (Does anyone know how to do that?)
Other plans for our summer include a big family camping trip, and a trip to Yellowstone. (It's right here in our back yard - we have excuse for not going!) Bubblehead's dad recently found us a great deal on a little tent trailer, so we are excited for lots of camping this summer. I use to be of the mind that if you didn't sleep in a tent on the ground, you weren't camping. The adult me, however, has wised up, and now I believe the camper is the way to go!
So now you are caught up. I will try to take better care of my little blog here over the summer, but if I lose track, just shoot me an email - I always enjoy hearing from all of you! Comment here with your plans for the summer - I think I have two weekends yet unaccounted for, so I need some ideas. :)
