A little background: Ella has two pictures hanging in her room given to her by her uncle and aunt - one of a flower, and one of a butterfly. She also has an art frame hanging in her room which we put her own artwork in. Right now she has a wonderful painting of an apple in it - I know I'm her mother, but this is seriously a good painting. So Ella's grandparents were visiting this weekend, and she wanted to show her grandma the picture she painted. She very proudly took her in and showed off her masterpiece.
Grandma: "That's wonderful, Ella! And did you paint these pictures, too?" (pointing to the other pictures on her wall.)
Ella: "No, those are by another artist."
So last night I had to run to the store to get some cider vinegar to finish the potato salad I was making for dinner, and while I was there I got some rolls and decided to get something for dessert.
Every time I go in there I see these *yummy* looking danishes in the bakery, and have never bought them because they are peanut butter, which I'm not terribly fond of. But they look so good - more like maple-frosted danishes. So in my optimistic insanity I picked them up last night and proceeded to the check-out, thinking about how yummy they looked, even though they clearly say "Peanut Butter" on them.
Bubblehead and I get the kids tucked into bed and settle down to watch Survivor and I have my hot cup of tea and my "peanut butter" danish. I take a bite...
"Huh", I say. Bubblehead looks at me.
"It's peanut butter." He laughs at me.
And I didn't finish it - it wasn't yummy - it was peanut butter.
They really shouldn't make peanut butter frosted danishes look so much like maple frosted danishes. Do they really think writting "peanut butter" on the package is enough?
I'm sorry I haven't been around. Thank you to those of you who have wondered about me. I'm just fine. Life has just gotten in the way. I spent last week sick, and doing my best to keep the kids healthy. I've travelled the last 3 weekends in a row. My in-laws are coming this weekend. My laptop has been giving me problems. I just haven't found myself with anything to write about lately.
Thanks for all the responses to my last post. *I* believe the answer to be 6 bits, and even though it seems the majority went the other way, giving my husband ammunition for the rest of our days, I'm going to stick with 6 bits. (Who was it who told me they admire someone who sticks to their guns, even when they know they are wrong? Was that you, Annie?)
It snowed here yesterday. The day before it was in the 60s and beautiful - the kids played outside without jackets. Then yesterday I had to break out the winter gear so they could make a snow mountain. It is suppose to be in the 70s this weekend. I'm tired of this roller coaster. I'm ready for spring!
I'm deeply intrenched in my Titanic party preperations. I've gotten RSVPs back from all 10 guests, and now I'm preparing "boarding packets", and assigning everyone a character for the evening. This should be so much fun - I'm very excited about it. I'll keep you updated.
That's all for now. Feel free to slap my hands for not posting before you leave.
